Snow Canyon Whiterocks Natural Amphitheatre (Sand dunes)

Whiterocks Natural Amphitheatre: Sand Dunes

There is a little hike (we took kids on it no problem!) to this natural amphitheatre out of petrified sand dunes, and sand dunes that is fun to climb up and jump, run or roll down the sand.  I would recommend planning this hike first thing in the morning, before it gets too hot. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You can just take off shoes and socks, while you play in the sand.  The sand is really soft, and doesn't stick to you or your clothes, so its easy to clean up after and put shoes and socks back on.  Take plenty of water!

These are not sand dunes that you take ATVs on.

Here is a full map of Snow Canyon State Park.  The sand dunes are the red trail up at the very top.

Here is a zoomed in part of the map.  The top, shortest, Whiterocks Trail is the one you want (the one that ends with a camera icon and says "Whiterocks Natural Amphitheatre).  You park where the P is, just off route 18.  First, stop where the "$" is, just south of there to pay the $6/car fee, and then get back on route 18, and go further north to the small parking lot.

Here's a map from our condos, to route 18, about where the parking is, I do think it will still be further north than where "B" is located on the map, but its hard to get an exact address for this, in the state park.

Here's some pictures from when we went May 2012:
